Combative Kickboxing

Kickboxing develops anaerobic and aerobic fitness — in other words, power and staying power. Kickboxing will improve your coordination, agility, balance and muscle strength

Kickboxers are reputed to be among the best conditioned athletes. After one of these classes, you’ll know why. Our classes are geared toward both advanced practitioners and beginners alike.

Who does kickboxing? Anyone looking for a great workout with plenty of variety or anyone who hates his boss and wants a fantastic stressbuster. Definitely suitable for both men and women.

Our Combative Kickboxing programme is blend of arts developed from Karate, Muay Thai and Western boxing and can be practiced for self-defence, general fitness, or as a combat athletics sport.

BJJ

BJJ or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world today. At Way of the Spiritual Warrior you are a part of a martial arts family.

You will join a club  that will support you in your journey to get fitter , stronger, more confident and learn a huge variety of life skills. We are extremely proud to offer the Will -Machado BJJ system, designed by John B Will and Rigan Machado two giants of the sport.

Jeet kune do (way of the intercepting fist) is a martial art created by Bruce Lee . Neither a system nor a method, Bruce Lee didn’t consider his art a style but an aggregate of principles for developing the martial mind and body.

Jeet Kune Do is an eclectic/hybrid system and philosophy of life founded by martial artist Bruce Lee with direct, non classical, and straightforward movements. Due to the way his style works, Jeet Kune Do practitioners believe in minimal movement with maximum effect and extreme speed. The system works on the use of different ‘tools’ for different situations. These situations are broken down into ranges (Kicking, Punching, Trapping and Grappling), with techniques flowing smoothly between them.

Kali

Kali (also known as Eskrima or Arnis) is one of the many traditional Filipino weapons based martial arts.

Brought from the Philippines to the USA after World War 2 Kali found a resurgence in the Western World and is now becoming very popular.

The primary weapon for this art is the rattan (bamboo) stick, but we also train with knives, swords, dulo-dulo (palm sticks) and long staff. The principles and techniques learned transfer seamlessly between the weapons and into the empty hand making it highly versatile and ideal to learn for self defence or the enjoyment of the art.

Pressure Points (Kyusho Jitsu)

Often shrouded in mystery and misunderstanding the art of Kyusho Jitsu or Pressure Points is steeped in history.  Formally documented in China by the monk Bhodidharma in the 5th Centruy who recorded the reactions of prisoners to various stimuli on the body a “map” of pressure points was created – in essence – the weak points of the body.

Our class is designed to examine existing principles and techniques being learned during other training sessions and see how they can be improved by utilising these pressure points either by way of striking or manipulation. This gives the practitioner an advantage by the using minimal force required to maximum effect.

Ladies Only Kickboxing

This class is designed for women who want to learn technical skills and get fit at the same time. Not only will kickboxing give you a full body and cardio workout you’ll improve muscle strength and toning as well as relieving stress – and all before lunchtime!

Whether your looking to start  new hobby, improve on existing experience or just get a good sweat on doing something different in a comfortable environment then this class is for you!
