At the Way of the Spiritual Warrior we teach  Kali as taught by the martial arts legend's Guro Dan Inosanto and Rick Faye from the Minnesota Kali Group. In fact Rick is a regular visitor to the centre when he travels to the UK. This blends a strong element of stick and knife in it and this normally signifies a higher level of art than purely just empty hand skill. This is due to the range of combat and the deadly nature of its tools. Kali is a battle art and has stood the test of time evolving into a fantastic martial art that develops mental agility as well as physical skills. Filipino stick combat has many names depending on the area of the country it comes from. You may hear the terms Arnis, Escrima, Sayoc and Doce Pares used in conjunction with this fabulous arts.

Kali philosophy is based on triangles and circles but the highest triangle is based on, Love, Compassion and Humility. This demonstrates the true warrior mentality of the Kali practitioner rather than the thuggish approach to combat.

There are many areas of Kali to study and as a modern art it serves the student well as a system of street defence especially with its heavy emphasis on multiple opponents. This is why it is taught to some of the world’s elite military and police forces.
